๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ Using Graph Paper to construct shape and finding the Area ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ

  Welcome๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘งboys and girls to another fun Mathematics class. Today we will be going on an adventure where we will be exploring the topic " Using Graph Paper to find the area of polygons".

 1. What is the formula to find the area of the  rectangle? ๐Ÿ‘‡

   Example:

1. What is the area of the rectangle below?

2.What is the formula to find the area of the square?

Example:

What is the area of the square below?

3.What is the formula to find the area of the triangle?

Example of how to use the graph paper to construct shape and find their area.

   Example 1:

NB: Changing foot to cm

Length x Width

Length == 13cm

width = 10cm

Area= 13 x 10 = 130cm square

Example 2:

square

Side X side

Area= 12m x 12m= 144m square

Task 1:

Find the area and perimeter of the figures below.

Task 2:

1.A rectangular playfield has an area of 14 cm2. Use the grid below to sketch the playfield. Calculate the perimeter of the playfield.

What is the area of the playfield?

2.A perfectly square fish tank has an area of 16 cm2. Use the grid below to draw the fish tank.

Find the perimeter and area of the fish tank.
